Description:
Join us on Monday, April 30, 2018 at 12:00 PM ET.

On US college campuses, influenza vaccination rates remain low, falling dramatically short of the 70 percent Healthy People 2020 target recommendation.* Why does motivating college students to get an annual influenza vaccination remain difficult? What can be done to increase influenza immunization rates among college populations?

Join the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) and the American College Health Assocation (ACHA) for a discussion about influenza prevention efforts on US college campuses. NFID Medical Director William Schaffner, MD will moderate the webinar which will include presentations by Lisa S. Ipp, MD, NFID Director and Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Weill Cornell Medicine, along with Linda Dudman, MPA, Associate Director of Health Promotion and Ann McMican, MS, Associate Director for Administration, University Health Service at the University of Rochester. Speakers will share insights based on a recent NFID-sponsored national survey of college student attitudes toward influenza and a qualitative research assessment of US colleges and universities with active, on-campus influenza prevention programs.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

-Describe attitudes of college students related to influenza
-Define key barriers that may prevent college students from receiving an annual influenza vaccination
-Outline motivators that may help to increase participation in on-campus influenza vaccination programs
-Discuss influenza prevention best practices from US colleges and universities with active on-campus influenza immunization programs

There is no fee to participate in this activity but pre-registration is required.
