Description:
National Influenza Vaccination Week (NIVW) is an annual awareness week held each December to highlight the importance of annual influenza (flu) vaccination. During NIVW 2018, scheduled for December 2-8, 2018, the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases (NFID) will host a webinar on 12/5 at 12:00 PM ET focused on overcoming misconceptions about flu and flu vaccines.

William Schaffner, MD, NFID Medical Director will be joined by NFID Vice President, Patricia A. Stinchfield, RN, MS, CPNP, CIC, Senior Director of Infection Prevention and Control at Children's Minnesota, and Wendy Sue Swanson, MD, MBE, Chief of Digital Innovation and Digital Health at Seattle Children’s Hospital, to discuss common misunderstandings about flu and flu vaccines as well as communication tips on how best to respond.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

-Explain common myths about flu and flu vaccines
-Describe strategies to communicate with patients and parents about the importance of annual flu vaccination
-Determine the best approach for flu vaccination discussions with patients

There is no fee to participate in this activity but pre-registration is required.
