Description:
Update your knowledge of gastrointestinal and liver diseases and their management with experts in the field, hands-on stations, live case transmission, debates, lectures and more.

This multi-professional course will allow participants to:

Interact with internationally renowned endoscopists treating complex GI conditions, while learning about a wide variety of advanced endoscopic procedures and novel state-of-the-art technologies that may obviate the need for surgical intervention. Cases demonstrating advanced endoscopic techniques will be transmitted live from the Virginia Mason Medical Center Therapeutic Endoscopy Center, with real-time questions, feedback and case-by-case discussion between course participants and the team.

Engage in didactic learning with experts in the field taking on gripping clinical challenges including approaches to foreign bodies in the GI tract, anticoagulation in portal vein thrombosis, diagnosis and treatment of dysphagia, treatment options for IBD strictures, role for EUS guided biliary drainage in malignant strictures, endoscopic management of acute cholecystitis, applications of endoscopic myotomy, and endoscopic management of bariatric surgery complications.

Get your hands on the tools used in therapeutic endoscopy, using real endoscopes and devices, practicing on appropriate models and platforms. Stations will include ERCP, EUS guided stenting, direct duct visualization, endoscopic hemostat, and esophageal stenting. Participate in MD and RN-driven break-out sessions, with nursing experts presenting on management of patients with pancreatitis, gastrointestinal drains, and post-bariatric complications including leaks and strictures.

Teaching methods include observation of live therapeutic procedures, lectures, case discussion and hands-on practice.
