Description:
An advanced course designed for providers responsible for emergency airway management of acute inpatients. Taught by a world-class, multi-specialty faculty of airway experts, the course focuses exclusively on the airway challenges posed by critically ill inpatients. Emphasizing airway assessment and decision-making, the course equips participants to manage any airway situation they encounter - and to do so with great confidence. Participants reinforce learning in Code Airway simulations - hands-on management of challenging scenarios.

The Difficult Airway Course: Critical Care will...

Build mastery and confidence in:
• How to predict a difficult airway
• How to prevent a failed airway
• When - and when NOT - to use medications
• How to perform an awake intubation
• Practical strategies in crisis management and human factors

Provide extensive hands-on practice in:
• Many airway techniques, including video laryngoscopy
• Flexible bronchoscopy and laryngeal mask ventilation
• Tube exchange and extubation of the difficult airway
• Front of the neck access / cricothyrotomy

Prepare you for challenging inpatient scenarios, such as:
• Upper airway obstruction
• Airway management in the massively obeses patient
• Tracheostomy issues, including accidental dislodgement
• The bleeding, traumatized and vomit-filled airway
• The can't intubate / can't oxygenate situation
