Description:
As the older adult population continues to increase and live longer, it is imperative that we offer high quality continuing education in the care and management of geriatric patients. Most physicians have received very little or no formal geriatrics training, despite this growing trend in the number of older adults they care for. Surveys demonstrate that physicians commonly report discomfort and dissatisfaction with providing care to the older adult. Further, studies evaluating standard quality indicators for the care of the vulnerable older adult show quite poor quality of care. Older adults with multiple co-morbidities report high rates of dissatisfaction with their health care. This activity is designed to provide practical information to clinicians and healthcare professionals who care for elderly patients. It will improve knowledge about diseases and syndromes common in the elderly and offer practical and effective guides to their management.
